Experiment

GMK tends to wake up as soon as it's remotely light outside- sometimes that translates to "WAY too early." Partially our doing because we used to say things like, "The sun went down so it's time to go to sleep!" Our little smarty pants deduced that if the sun comes up, then it's time to wake up. Uy.

Anyway, I purchased this window darkening film to cover her windows a month ago. KCK is putting them up tonight. Muah hah hah! Will she sleep a little later in the morning? I'll let you know how it goes.

hahah!!! hm.. playing tricks on the kiddies, i see.. i suppose at one time in our lives we liked to play tricks on our siblings/parents by taking the first bite of their ice cream while they were looking away.. and now, it's tricking our kids to sleeping longer by putting darkening film. if that doesn't work, you can paint a picture of the night sky with some stars. who says that we haven't gotten older and wiser? though i don't think gmk will let anyone get away with eating any little bit of her ice cream!!

we had the same problem. GL used to get up before 6. we put up trash bags on her windows (temporarily, since we are moving), and now she gets up a little later. It may take a couple of days for her to adjust... good luck!

That's a smart thing to do! I spent extra money to make blackout curtains for Gus from birth to preschool days, and it was worth every penny and then some. I didn't do it for Josephine, because she is very good and lets Mommy sleep even though she's awake and hungry. :(

i hope it works too. especially since i'm visiting in August and ESK will likely wake up with her cousin. do you think they'll sleep in the same room this time? ESK is actually pretty good about sleeping in so far. hopefully, she'll keep it up as she gets older.

Hope it works for you...we did the same thing for Nathan....some days he sleeps longer, other days not as his internal clock wakes him up anyway. Ugh. If anything, it keeps his room nice and cool in the morning in this heat!

Did it work? Hope it did... that's the worst when kids wake you up at crack of dawn..
